Life After College: Expectation Vs. Reality

Congratulations you graduate, you! You survived years of exams, all-nighters, vicious hangovers, and heartbreaks. The start of college life comes with extremely large expectations.

Almost every high school student is also looking forward to this one thing. Not to mention the other attempts we have made to become admitted to our dream schools. But what is so exciting and exciting about college life that every high school student expects? Well, thanks to everything you watch on TV and the internet, the students are developing very high and ideal expectations of college life. Party, tons of liberty, friendly atmosphere and the chance to do what you like, is their perception of college life. But unfortunately, this is all true for the first few college days only. Sure, your school time will be one of your best periods of life, but it won’t be all a cake. Here are some practical checks of the high standards you might have for college life. Not to discourage you, but better prepared than you unexpectedly have been affected by reality.

Staying away from the parents

Expectation: College life should be more intense and thrilling than high school. You can float around school life effortlessly and be an all-rounder you ‘d always like to be.

Reality: This is not true because most of your time will be spent trying to study in front of your laptop. You ‘re going to be more soaked than you were in high school.

I’ll Travel The World

Expectation: Ok, in this country’s my oyster. Now I can throw away to any desirable place because I am free of institutionalized education. India-India? The Egyptians? Madagascar? Iceland Italy? Alaska? Think of the stories I’m going back to. Some time I imagine that I was in Morocco for hours, at the end of hours, or that I met the lovely man in Spain and we had the most extreme language barriers but IT DIDN’T MATTER. At the close of my journeys I would be take a big house In Los Angeles and settle In Mumbai .

Reality:HOW MUCH?! Cost a plane ticket! I don’t buy all that darn plane, I just want a seat! I’m also going to take my seat by the toilet. How am I expected to be owner of big house in Los Angeles before the age of 21 when I can’t even afford to travel across an ocean? Also, should hostels not be super-cheap?? I can barely afford to spend 5 days in Italy, let alone travel the world for one year. Also I can barely afford to settle in Mumbai as the cost of living and and working load of the work.

No Homework

Expectation: No more homework would be one of the biggest assets to go to school. With too many hours of classes during the day, Who wants to waste the most of the days doing school work?

Reality:You’ll be studying a lot harder and for much longer compared to your days back in school. And there might be some days when you will remain at the library like 3 in the night in order to do your homework due at 8 a.m.
